TSL’s very own Anthony “Turbo” Hall sets off today (19/7/19) as part of team “Nomadic Numpties” in the world famous Mongol Rally.
The drive, an epic 22,000 mile journey from Kent to Ulan Ude in Russia (and back) sees Turbo and his teammate, Abby “Henri” Cooper, pass through 22 countries in Poppy – a wholly unsuitable 1000cc Perodua Kanari!
The charity drive is being undertaken on behalf of Backup – the technical entertainment charity, who are a benevolent fund set up by our industry to provide financial support to technical professionals in their time of need.
“I’ve known about the Mongol Rally for many years and it had always been something I’d dreamt of doing” said Turbo, “so when the chance arose to enter a car we jumped at it. It’s an unsupported drive which means we’ve had to take care of all our own travel arrangements, accommodation, visas etc so it’s been quite a process getting everything sorted”.
The team have already smashed their initial fundraising target and have raised close to £4000 for Backup so far. We’ll be tracking their progress over the course of the next few months via our Twitter and Instagram pages but you can keep an eye on their live location via their GPS tracker and make a donation to Backup via https://www.tsllighting.com/turbo/
