A cornucopia of lights, sounds and special effects illuminate the woods at Arley Hall and Gardens in Cheshire this winter, where the woodland has been transformed into a magical, immersive nighttime trail for the Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience.
With more than two thousand IP65 rated lighting fixtures from Ayrton, GLP, Elation and SGM and over one hundred kilometres of cable, TSL provided Lighting Designer Adam Povey with an extensive, tailored lighting package to bring his vision to life and light up the scenes from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies.
TSL’s proprietary TS Towers were installed as lighting masts around the forest and themed village areas, creating 8m tall lighting positions for coverage. The masts were fitted with a customised Broadweigh Sensorspace wind monitoring system, allowing cloud-based, real-time monitoring of weather conditions at each of the masts and direct reporting back to the production team.
Making their debut amongst the range of IP65 rated fixtures were more than a hundred of the all new Coemar LEDko EXT Full Spectrum profiles. These weatherproof, six-chip RGBCLA fixtures provide the perfect outdoor accompaniment to TSL’s existing stock of Coemar ellipsoidal profiles.
Control was via a MA3 Light and two MA3 Compact consoles connected via a fibre optic network spanning the 3km trail. Data distribution was managed using a system of Luminex Luminode 12 and Lumisplit DMX Buffers.
Adam Povey said “We’ve had a really great experience at TSL. The level of prep and quality of all the kit that comes out of the warehouse makes our job on the ground much easier and means we can get the show looking exactly how we want it to, without compromise.
Every time we work on an event with TSL the process gets easier and easier and we are really happy with the outcome of this fantastic project. We’re looking forward to working on more jobs together in 2023 and beyond”.
The Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience was produced by Warner Bros, Unify, Thinkwell and Fever, and takes place at four locations globally. Tickets are on sale until January at hpforbiddenforestexperience.com
