TSL Lighting were delighted to welcome Luminex Network Technologies to their Gatwick base earlier this month for to host a training session for staff members and freelancers. The course covered a wide range of specifics, from the fundamentals of network management, to RDM, through to an in-depth examination of Luminex’s own unique system for creating full redundancy and backup paths within their product range.
The training course, co-hosted with AC Entertainment Technologies, follows a significant further investment by TSL into data infrastructure and hardware with the addition of 50 more Luminex Lumisplit 2.10 RDM DMX splitters into rental stock.
The 10 output unit offers amazing flexibility, and the twin A/B input means that precious rack space can be minimised. The addition of the advanced RDM feature set enables users to discover, manage and set-up lighting fixtures directly from any RDM compatible lighting controller. The innovative port filtering function also allows the RDM information to be filtered out so that any strange behaviour on non-RDM fixtures can be identified and isolated with the minimum of fuss.
Account Director Loz Wilcox commented on the units: “Although RDM as a standard has been in existence for some time, it’s only been with the recent advance of reliable management tools that technicians have started to see the real world benefits of true remote management. Luminex products already form the backbone of our DMX and Artnet/SACN data infrastructure so it makes complete sense that we compliment them with Luminex DMX splitters”
The Lumisplit 2.10 join the DMX8 nodes and Gigacore 10, Gigacore 12 and Gigacore xt16 network switches in TSL’s rental stock, all of which can be specified as part of a Fibre Optic or rugged Ethercon system utilising TSL’s dedicated “Arena” data distribution system.
