Bringing together Education and Employment

TSL recently provided an exciting opportunity for a student to undertake a placement on a high-profile esports event, working as part of the TSL team to experience first hand the entire production process of the show coming together.

Josh Eksteen, a Lighting Design and Technology student from the University of South Wales, took up the opportunity to get involved.

Josh comments “Working with TSL was an excellent experience. TSL holds themselves to a very high standard and the opportunity to see and challenge myself to meet that standard has been invaluable.

Part of the placement included introducing me to the Luminex Networking Ecosystem, a scale of event network that’s difficult to access or replicate in an educational environment. Exposure to this level of event networking will find continued use as I continue to develop as an event technician in an increasingly network-heavy industry.

During this placement, I worked alongside TSL and Freelance Technicians to deliver the event, from prep in the warehouse, to the on-site get-in, event duration, and subsequent get-out eight days later.

I found both TSL and the placement to be highly enjoyable, the team at TSL was a delight to work with, always willing to answer questions or provide guidance on methods or practices. I enjoyed being present for the full duration of the event, seeing the fruits of your labour is always rewarding and a contributing factor towards my pursuit of a career in this industry.”

It was great to have you onboard Josh and we hope to have you work with us again in the near future!
