Reporting Line Manager: General Manager

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 dependant on experience.

Working as part of the wider Project Management team within the TSL office this role takes responsibility for assisting with the planning, delivery and management of multiple lighting & rigging projects.

The role involves the profitable and efficient coordination of all resources required to deliver the project including equipment and transportation.

Supporting the customer facing team you will be pivotal in equipment planning and allocation as well as acting as a main technical point of contact for a project.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Locate and negotiate prices for orders for requirements of sub-hired equipment from the company’s suppliers for specific projects. 
  • Raising, processing, and tracking purchase orders to ensure timely procurement of equipment and services.
  • Coordinate transport and logistics, including booking vehicles and managing deliveries and collections to support project schedules.
  • Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for projects and adhere to the company’s H&S Policy and current industry regulations and best practice.
  • Help match the client’s and crew chief’s requirements to available rental stock to maximise profitable delivery and execution on specific projects.
  • Provide out of hours support as part of the company call out service acting as the main point of contact for customers .
  • Monitor project progress and act as point of contact for the crew chief in the event of any changes or additional requests throughout the project.
  • Keep job files for each project updated and available for input from other team members.
  • As required, liaising with the Operations team to coordinate the equipment prep stage of a project within the company’s warehouse.
  • Keep the Line Manager, Account Manager / Project Manager and company systems up to date with all aspects of client contact, project progress and prospective commercial contact, both positive and negative. 
  • Manage any project changes and customer confirmations, collating and reporting all charges to be invoiced.
  • Provide support to the Directors, in other aspects of the business’s activity, as required, requested and directed.
  • Keep all work related information confidential and act in a professional manner at all times, in all work and industry-social situations.
  • Identify any areas of our operation where you believe training and additional skills may be required or benefit yourself or the business.
  • Provide feedback to Directors of any areas of improvement, development or growth of the business identified.  Take a role within the team in problem solving and contribute to team & business improvement.
  • Be aware of and comply with the company Health and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure that the Company’s policies, rules, procedures and obligations are observed in carrying out the above duties. 

Representing the Company:

  • Manage purchase and rental procurement efficiently, with the aim of efficiently maximising the rental revenue and resulting profit margins.
  • Keep abreast of any technical issues and new products that will enhance our rental inventory and services offer.

Skills Required:

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage your own workload whilst working as part of a team
  • Good communications / interpersonal skills.
  • Good working knowledge of a full range of current lighting and rigging equipment and practices.
  • Working knowledge of lighting networking systems and terminology is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of rigging and safe working practices is an advantage.
  • Strong IT knowledge. 
  • Numerate and commercially astute with an understanding of profitability and margin.
  • Able to use spreadsheets and IT to monitor budgets, profit margins etc. 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proactive, self-motivated individual capable of working on their own initiative in a constantly changing and pressurised environment within a fast developing company.
  • Ability to travel within the UK, Europe and internationally, often at short notice.
  • Ability to manage a situation and effectively deal with both junior and senior colleagues.
