TSL strengthens concert touring team with industry experts

TSL has reinforced its concert touring and festival team with a series of senior industry appointments, bringing decades of touring and festival experience into the business and expanding its capability to deliver lighting and rigging services at the highest level.

Joining as Account Director, Ian Turner brings more than 30 years of experience across theatre, touring and UK festivals. Having founded and led GLS Lighting for three decades, Ian built long-standing relationships across the industry, working as a Lighting Technician, Crew Boss and Lighting Designer.

As Account Manager Ian has worked on touring shows for artists including Motörhead, Thin Lizzy, Michael Kiwanuka and Wiz Khalifa, as well as a host of UK independent festivals. With in-depth knowledge across both touring floor packages and large-scale flown systems, Ian knows exactly what it takes to keep shows running smoothly, no matter the scale.

“In bringing together the expertise from GLS and TSL, I am looking forward to working with more clients and offering them a wider range of equipment and facilities to support the needs of increasingly complex touring shows.” said Ian.

Gemma Jaques joins TSL’s touring team, having previously worked at PRG, VER and Neg Earth. Her experience spans Academy and Arena-level shows, supporting artists including Sabrina Carpenter, Teddy Swims, Architects, Lizzo, Anderson Paak and Ocean Alley, as well as large-scale events like Brighton Pride.

Gemma commented: “TSL is a well-established independent company with huge potential in the touring space. The facilities and equipment are exceptional, and the opportunity to further develop the concert touring side of the business is something I find genuinely exciting.”

James ‘JT’ Tomlinson also joins the team, bringing more than three decades of experience as a Crew Chief in concert touring. He’s worked on major international tours, from Whitney Houston’s UK and European Tour to Bryan Adams’ UK and US tours, and even supported the Athens Olympics Opening Ceremony in 2004. JT will bring unmatched expertise to the TSL team in mentoring the in-house production team, ensuring on-site delivery meets the highest standards the industry relies on.

Wil Gregory, also formerly of GLS, joins the team. Since setting up his first concert in 1996, Wil has worked on tours and projects for artists including Solange, Joan Baez, 50 Cent, Halestorm, and Airbourne, as well as major events like Victorious Festival and Boomtown.

Wil states “I believe the foundation of any successful project lies in attention to detail, strong client relationships, and a genuine love for the job. Moving to TSL has been a fantastic step — it’s an incredibly welcoming and supportive team, widely respected throughout the industry, and it’s a genuine pleasure to be part of it.”

For Managing Director Sam Tamplin, the expansion is a natural next step:
“Music was the original reason I got involved in lighting. With this team now in place, we have the shared experience, relationships and ambition to build something truly strong in the touring market.”

Long recognised for the quality and presentation of its lighting and rigging equipment, TSL’s touring team now combines established industry relationships, senior technical expertise and exceptional service with its enhanced facilities. These include dedicated pre-visualisation suites and pre-rig space, designed to support artists, designers and production teams at every stage.

The growth in TSL’s touring team comes ahead of the TPI Awards next week, where the team will be attending and hosting their own table — be sure to stop by and meet them in person.
