Lighting Wonderland: TSL’s New Robe LedPOINTE Brings SpektraBeam Magic to the Stage

The LedPOINTE is an upgraded version of Robe’s original Pointe that delivers 200,000 lux at 5 meters and has quality CMY colour mixing – a feature which is a big step forward from the original Pointe.

Lighting Designer and long-term friend of TSL, Jack Weir, turned to TSL to supply the new Robe LedPOINTE fixtures for the production of Alice in Wonderland at the Marylebone Theatre.

Sam Tamplin, MD said “The original Pointe was such a designer favourite, with them being so adaptable and multi-use, so we wanted to continue offering the latest versions of this iconic fixture type in a new form factor and with CMY colour mixing.”

Jack commented: “The main reason I wanted to specify the LedPOINTE is primarily due to the SpektraBeam effects that the unit offers. This is a feature set that I haven’t seen before in a profile moving fixture and when mixed with a near silent operation and small foot-print – it is an ideal choice for the venue.”

The SpektraBeam is an effects module, unique to Robe, that produces almost indescribable colours, patterns, shapes and effects, elevating designs to a whole new level of visual impact.

Jack has been able to use the SpektraBeam across all of the design in Alice in Wonderland, including using the SpektraBeam prisms to create an effect similar to an animation wheel.

“I wanted to try something different that had the foot-print and weight of a Diablo but a greater feature set and more friendly CTO options.”
